Meet Moran Tairy
Founder & CEO of M.I. Trading
I’m Moran Tairy, the founder of M.I. Trading and an experienced diamond and jewelry buyer serving Austin, Texas.
My career in the diamond industry began in 2004, and I founded M.I. Trading in Austin in 2011. Over the years, I’ve worked with people selling everything from individual diamond rings to inherited jewelry collections, gold, and other valuable pieces.
One thing I’ve learned is that selling jewelry can be a very personal decision. Some people are ready to sell. Others want to understand their options before deciding what to do.
That’s why I take the time to explain what affects an item’s resale value, how the current market influences its value, and why that value may differ from what someone originally paid.
I believe in being straightforward, answering questions honestly, and allowing each person to decide what’s right for them.
When you meet with me, you’re welcome to ask questions, take time to consider an offer, or decide to keep your jewelry. There’s no obligation to sell.

M.I. Trading began with a simple idea: people selling valuable jewelry deserve personal attention, honest explanations, and the freedom to make their own decisions.
After beginning his career in the diamond industry in Israel in 2004 and gaining experience across the United States, Moran Tairy made Austin his home and founded M.I. Trading in 2011.
In the early years, Moran met customers by appointment at banks and coffee shops throughout Austin. As the business grew, he established a private office where customers could comfortably discuss their jewelry and its resale value.
Today, M.I. Trading continues to serve Austin and surrounding communities with the same personal, appointment-only approach.
Our history reflects years of hands-on experience, relationships built with local customers, and a commitment to honesty, transparency, and fairness.

What We Buy
Diamonds, Gold Jewelry, Fine Jewelry & Estate Pieces
M.I. Trading purchases a variety of diamonds, fine jewelry, and precious metal items from individuals and families throughout Austin and Central Texas.
Some of the items we consider include:
- Certified and non-certified diamonds: Loose diamonds and diamonds set in jewelry, with or without grading reports.
- Diamond engagement rings: Engagement rings, wedding jewelry, and diamond rings you’re considering selling.
- Estate and inherited jewelry: Family jewelry collections, antique pieces, and items that are no longer worn.
- Gold jewelry: Gold rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and other solid gold jewelry, including broken or unwanted pieces.
- Platinum and fine jewelry: Platinum jewelry, designer pieces, and jewelry containing valuable gemstones.
- Sterling silver: Sterling silver jewelry, flatware, and solid silverware.
We also consider select luxury watches, collectible coins, and other valuable items. Please contact us before bringing specialized items to confirm whether they’re something we currently purchase.
Not every item has significant resale value. For example, silver-plated and gold-plated items generally do not have the precious-metal content required for our purchasing services.

When you visit M.I. Trading, you’ll meet with Moran Tairy at our private Austin office.
Appointments are scheduled in advance so you have time to discuss your jewelry, ask questions, and understand the factors that influence its resale value.
What to expect during your appointment:
- Bring your items. You can bring diamonds, gold jewelry, estate pieces, or other items you’d like evaluated. Grading reports, receipts, and previous appraisals can be helpful, but they are not required.
- Meet with Moran. He will examine your items and discuss the characteristics that affect their resale value.
- Understand the evaluation. You’ll learn how factors such as diamond quality, metal content, condition, and market demand influence what a buyer may pay.
- Consider your options. If M.I. Trading is interested in purchasing your items, Moran will explain the offer. You can accept, decline, or take time to consider it.
- Complete the transaction if you choose. When an offer is accepted, payment is made by check and a receipt is provided.
Our private evaluations are free, and there is no obligation to sell.

About Moran Tairy
Moran Tairy is the founder and CEO of M.I. Trading, an independent diamond and jewelry buying business established in Austin in 2011.
With more than 20 years of experience in the diamond industry, Moran brings hands-on knowledge of diamonds, precious metals, fine jewelry, and the factors that influence their resale value.
He believes that a fair transaction begins with clear information. During private appointments, he personally evaluates customers’ items, explains the factors behind their value, and answers questions without pressure to sell.
Originally from Herzliya, Israel, Moran began his career in the diamond industry in 2004 before making Austin his home and building M.I. Trading.
